Problem:

The blog needed improvement from a UI and UX perspective. We also created a design system and wanted to integrate the new components to the page. I came up with a lift and shit for the home page, articles, and author’s page.

Solution:

We gave the blog navigation more room to breathe from the main navigation and softened the harsh drop shadow in the hover state. The featured cards initially had too much white space, especially when the articles didn’t align properly, and there was inconsistency in the design as some blog cards had rounded corners while others didn’t. Additionally, the articles were enhanced with a pull quote and the option to upload more than one image. We also drove users toward subscribing or searching for our apartments, and introduced tags to improve content organization. Lastly, we added more features to the Author’s page to enhance the user experience.

Problem:

While creating the blog, we noticed several navigation issues: the desktop search field lacked a clear button, mobile dropdown buttons were too close together, making it easy to hit the wrong one, and users didn’t know how to close the dropdown menu. Additionally, the search button disappeared on tablet devices.

Solution:

For the desktop version, I expanded the search field to provide more space for typing. On mobile, I shortened the menu titles to increase padding, improving usability. When a category is open, the arrow icon now changes direction, signaling users to tap it again to close the menu. By reducing title length, the search icon is no longer hidden, and tapping it smoothly slides in the search field, making it easier for users to find articles.
